What is Podiatry?

Podiatrists are specialist health professionals that are experienced in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle conditions. They are trained and skilled across a vast variety of areas, from management of minor skin issues, to treatment of more complex structural problems. Scientific evidence-based practice is at the core of all treatment.

In order to practice, Accredited Podiatrists require post-graduate University education and registration with governing boards and national associations. Strict guidelines and registration standards require regular up-skilling with CPD, as well as annual CPR, defib and anaphylaxis updates.

The Podology Podiatry team are registered with:

  • AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority)
  • APodA (Australian Podiatry Association)
  • SMA (Sports Medicine Australia)
  • AAPSM (Australian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine Australia)

Recognised as Allied Health professionals; Podiatrists will often integrate alongside other health professionals such as GPs, surgeons and Physiotherapists to best mange your presenting concerns.

Podiatry is indicated for all ages! From athlete’s to weekend warriors, children to elderly patients and everyone in between!
